Driftwood is our most private, secluded ocean front cabin. Enjoy this oceanfront serene and private beach house, nestled into a Palmetto forest on this pristine island in coastal South Carolina. (With splendid sunrises, quirky pelicans, and a wealth of sandollars!) With no cable TV, you can really enjoy being away from it all! Homes at Hunting Island are unique in the fact that they were grandfathered in and no additional homes can be built. Most of the homes are over 40 years old and that is part of their charm. When vacationing at Hunting Island, you are “stepping back in time”, spending time with family and friends, preferring the quiet solace of the forest and beaches and all that nature has to offer at your doorstep…you truly are at one with nature when you vacation at Hunting Island. Owner also has a house on St. Helena Island, beachfront. Look on "Other Islands" for Coastal Cravings. It is located next to the old Fort Fremont at Lands End and is secluded much like Hunting Island.

Rate Description:  Please add 11% South Carolina Sales and Accommodations tax to daily and weekly rentals, plus a $75 reservation/damage waiver fee.
 
Fee Description:  DAILY rentals do NOT include departure cleaning (cost varies by size of home), Harbor Island car passes, and/or amenity cards for Fripp guests, if normally included in weekly rentals.
 
Driving Directions:  From the south: Take I-95 North, take S.C. exit 8 (Hwy 278/Beaufort/Hilton Head). Turn onto Hwy 278, toward Hilton Head/Beaufort. Travel approximately 4 miles and turn left at the sign for Beaufort. (If you pass the Wal-Mart, you missed the turn). Stay on this road until it dead-ends at Hwy 170. Turn left onto Hwy 170 and continue for about 11miles, cross the Broad River Bridge, and turn right onto Hwy 802 (the next right turn after the bridge at the BP Gas Station). Take this road for a couple of miles until it comes to an end and turn right to stay on the same hwy. Stay on Hwy 802 (you’ll cross over the bridge by Parris Island) until you come to a fairly major intersection with a CVS, a gas station, a Hardee’s, and an auto parts store. Turn right at this intersection. You will still be on Hwy 802. (You’ll know it’s the right turn because you’ll see signs for Fripp Island). At all times, follow the signs toward Fripp. You’ll cross another bridge over to Lady’s Island. After crossing the bridge, travel another mile or 2 and make a right hand turn onto Hwy 21. A video rental store and a Publix will be at this intersection. Go approx 15 miles on Hwy 21. A video rental store and a Publix will be at this intersection. Go approx 15 miles on Hwy 21. You will pass the campground entrance to Hunting Island State Park. Enter at the next left turn where it says “Park Office”. When you reach the manned security gate, please make sure the pass is hanging on your rearview mirror. Then, follow the road and take your third left onto Cabin Road. Our home is about 1/2 mile on your left. From the north: Take I-95 South, take exit 33 (US-17 N) toward Charleston/Beaufort. Travel approximately 8.5 miles and turn right onto US-21 S/Trask Pkwy. Follow US-21 S/Trask Pkwy for about 14 miles, then stay straight to go onto US-21 BR/Boundary St. Continue to follow US-21 BR, which becomes US-21. Continue another 15 miles and turn left onto Hunting Island.From the gate follow the signs towards the cabins. 
 
Minimum Rental Period (Days):     Typically 7 nights during the summer and 3 nights during the off season.
